I’ll take an AEV Prospector XL any day over one of these.

Raptors are cool because they are purpose built for an actual purpose. These aren’t cool because:

Who will complain more: People who are looking at used Tacoma prices? Or people looking at new ZR2 prices?

Exactly. I run winter Nokians year round on my secondary utility vehicle. As long as you can stomach the cost of the more frequent replacements, there is no problem running them in the summer.

To me this data doesn’t paint an all that convincing picture. How many times does someone run into repeated max braking panic stops in the real world? On the first stop the winters stopped within 4 feet of the all seasons. That’s pretty dang close. (The reverse test on snow in the winter has a much larger difference.)

No, you’re the one missing the question. The examples provided are by and large the same car but with a bigger engine that nets no more performance or speed but it does increase the price tag. Put it another way - if the engine isn’t a standalone option, it isn’t appropriate here unless those changes are also bad. So

The STI isn’t an engine upgrade, it’s a performance package. You misread the question.

Tom,

I know folks have asked before, but is there anyway you could do a quick article letting us know what some of these guys bought? Even a quick ‘Summary Article’ with like 10 people in it would super fun I think. “Tim with the 20k/3 Dogs Bought a Miata because he hated two of the dogs” or “Bernice with the 9 kids

TWO-POINT-OH LITERS?! WHAT IS THAT IN FREEDOM UNITS? HAW HAW HAW IS IT A CAWR OR A BOTTLE OF DIET MOUNTAIN DEW

Yup and same mods to the STI bump it to much higher numbers. Not sure what your point is exactly. STI advantages go beyond power.

Spoken like a true WRX driver who constantly has to justify why he doesn’t have the STI. Secretly sobbing under the sheets about not having one.

I get that the average Mercedes-Maybach S600 buyer doesn’t drop almost $200,000 on a sedan because it is significantly faster than the S550, but rather does so simply because it is more expensive and therefore better.

You expect me to settle for a common engine like a V-8? What, do you want me to be mistaken for a poor?

C’mon, there’s not enough metal in a Tracy car to weld.

I think it looks wonderful.

The ‘trouble’ with the Renegade as Tracy sees it isn’t the square ‘glass fenders. It’s the comically small factory wheel-tire package

I am going to just grab the low hanging fruit here.

Neutral: I graduated from UTI in 2003 and got a scholarship to the Audi Academy and worked on cars for roughly 3-4 years. Truth be told the auto industry just doesn’t give a fuck about their employees. It’s all about how many hours you can flag in a day and nothing to do with the quality of your work. I was constantly
