Being a former merc and bmw owner, lots of things were super expensive to replace and fix, maintain, and data will show they have horrible reliability as well (some people do get lucky though). I think pre 2005 mercs were know as the worst even when properly maintained. Though not talking about a jeep, a 90s honda or

they do indeed, though i'm unsure if they depreciated as fast 11years ago. It's hard to say, things have changed a lot since then.

ok i agree with you mostly but: "luxury cars tend to be much less likely to break down," LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL FUCK NO, seriously, who told you that?? just look at the reliability of the german/british luxury cars its god awful, never mind the cost to repair anything that goes wrong is insanely high, along with the

u should totally take pics to counter this story :P

plenty of reliable cheap cars out there, you do need to educate yourself on whats what though to pick out a good one, or be good friends with someone who is. Also those german luxury cars are a huge risk(they have horrible reliability records even when maintained) and maintenance is expensive on them as well. Gamble

Here's what you do, if there is significant equity in it, you sell it and buy a old cheap reliable car and pocket the rest. there is a big difference between an old lexus and a brand new one. though lots of those old german luxury cars are horribly unreliable even when kept up and if 1 thing breaks on em your looking

yeah though this was apparently a long time ago, soo going by current pricing doesn't really work. I mean what was a 2003 merc going for in 2008? 20k? 30k?

oh yeah they are totally cheap, but they are expensive as hell when things break, also this was quite a long time ago back when that car was probably worth some money.

my 94 honda civic clocked over 200k miles without missing a beat, sure tiny stuff went wrong, though i could replace the whole engine in that thing for cheaper than even the injectors on my bmw. i paid 2k for it, put 60k miles on it and sold it for 3k. my bmw i put 10k miles on it and it had about 8k+ in repairs

1 thing goes wrong on a merc and you are looking at the a bill equal to the cost of an old honda/toyota. Mercs are not know for reliability, even when well maintained. So the real risk IS keeping the merc.

A merc is worth a good 30k if not more depending on several factors (or less), a decent strong running car (old honda civic or something of the sort) is about 5k (craigslist people, you don't need payments ffs), therefore they had about 25k+ cash tied up in the car, which isn't anything to laugh at.

was a CPO 08, almost everything on it broke lol and only had like 70k miles. roommate's 535i 09 is running into similar issues as well. though yeah fuel pump was never actually fixed, they just kind of said f it and offered a huge warranty, kind of sad they never just found out what was wrong with it and permanently

Man you sure do have a stick up your ass about the seat there, i see you posted on car and driver almost non stop about the seats mr. "Iwantmy1LE". guessing your fat old ass fell through them? though you do know you can get the seats upgraded for like $40, right? Also seats are just fine and dandy for me, no issues or

interior isn't great but as long as your not a fatass the seats are actually pretty comfy and if you really hate em, can upgrade them pretty easy/cheap with one of the aftermarket foam kits. My bmw 335i seats were horribly uncomfortable, though my 2010 GS corvette lt3 seats are really super comfy, take long road trips

sad day

whats with all the ATS hate?

3 series steering is AWFUL, like worst thing evar, when they gave me the new one as a loaner couldn't wait to get back my old e90. can't imagine the ats being worse. i dunno about the ats but bmw is never getting my money again, new cars are really bad imo.

dude german cars lose value so fast you get whiplash
