It can easily be made affordable. It's just a screen. The processing comes from the phone. An iPhone 4S display costs $37* but this is not actually Apple's cost, they negotiate even better prices and by time this comes out it will cost even less.

Well go get it and sell it back to him then!
The overlap is not for support, it's so the cup can be made from one piece (cheaper, simpler process with no glue required). If you pull out all the flaps and unroll the rim it's one flat piece of paper that has the sides pulled up around a cylinder mold and then rims rolled down to hold it in place.
You're not a dumbass, they are not made like that with this purpose in mind.

I've been doing this for a long time... except with mayo... Mmmm.
Anyone try to steal your customer_service? I've already got people trying to steal them, on my customer-service account today I got 3 password reset phone calls, 6 texts and 3 emails... Needless to say, I removed my cell # from that account. Luckily, Microsoft was smart enough to * out the full number/email so whoever…

Oh I thought the whole board was a big integrated one now with everything soldered to the board.. Guess not.
Oh yes, I forgot about good ol' Cingular.
Meh, I think an acceptable price is whatever the market decides is acceptable, by the looks of things the current price is acceptable...
Yup. The sacrifices we make for such thin beautiful machines.....
You can do this to my MBP Retina? Didn't think so.
Can you upgrade the ram in this? I don't remember the iFixit tear down and am too lazy to check.
It's more acceptable than having to pay hundreds more because before this you couldn't upgrade the processor without taking the upgraded memory too.
I love space fucking.
I think my best chances would be scamming teenagers with my justin-bieber@outlook.com lol.
If this is from 2003, the screen was obviously added in later. For one, it says AT&T when they originally targeted Verizon as the carrier. Second, it's the original shipped iOS, all the prototype iOS's looked nothing like that, with squared corner buttons and a plain grey back behind the dock row of icons, as well as…
I see your point, but the reports of MicroUSB support state that it's the same size/shape as MicroUSB and has the data and charger pins in the same position, but it also has extra pins for the extra functionality so it works as both a MicroUSB port and an Apple peripheral port.
Hopefully I've sold them or made a decent profit off scamming teenagers (I kid, I kid) by then ;) ... Any takers?
