If you're using a Mac press control+option+command+8. If you're in iOS goto settings>general>accessibility>white on black and then you can watch it in negative. It looks sick, I highly recommend it.

Why would it be fragmented if they use the same screen resolution? They have about 5 different types of iPods and currently sell 3 different types of iPhones (3GS, 4 and 4S). Their desktop and laptop lines are even more fragmented. I don't see the problem.
