I typically screen shot the reply, save the image to my desktop, dismiss the suspected troll, and then reply. On the reply, I upload the saved image.

No, this is strictly a hardware issue with initial run OG Pixels. You should probably send your Pixel 3 back for warranty work as I do not think that is a widespread issue.
