It was a good joke. And Denver was not a lock to win anything when Peyton went there. They were good, but not historically great like GS is/was when KD went to the Bay.

I’m mixed on this. Since there was a contract it seems fairly black and white. I like the idea of taking a stand against a team that seems to have quit but when there is a contract it’s a different story.
Is it wrong that I irrationally root for a 19 year old to fail because his Dad is an all-time terrible sports dad? Yeah, probably. Is this gonna stop me? No, probably not.
Statistically, what are the odds that four guys on a soccer team would be gay and they all would be gay guys willing to do this?
He was trying to be funny and gently or not so gently razz a new teammate.
It’s a joke, dude.
Reports had Durant recruiting Nick Young pretty heavily. Think it’s just a friendly little piece of shit talking.
I assume he’s just trolling; I’ve seen it reported that KD and Steph were active parts of the recruitment effort to get Nick Young to sign with the team.
Is there a non-asshole explanation for that Durant tweet? Like he was trying to be funny and gently razz a new teammate or something? I always understood Durant to be a generally well-liked guy; this seems like a dick way to greet the new guy and kind of a bitchy way to show his employer the back of his hand.
This isn’t the end of the NBA or anything. They’ll be dominant, barring terrible injury luck, for a couple of years ... just like Jordan’s Bulls, Shaq/Kobe’s Lakers, Bird’s Celtics, etc. Then their old guys will be too old, and a younger guy or two will depart, and they won’t be able to easily rebuild a super-team.
I’d be all for it, but since schedules are set based on conference (each team plays everyone in their own conference either 3 or 4 times (more often 4), and in the other conference just twice, imbalance would remain. This made me very sour when the 2013-14 Timbwerwolves could not even sniff a playoff spot in the west…
Hornacek has always reminded me of an old Amish woman, and this classic Pennsylvania Dutch quilt pattern really drives home the point. Thank you.
Chappelle actually had to come up with material. I’m not sure that Phil’s been sober or off a beach since he joined the Knicks.
I think it hurts him in the Jackson v. Riley debate. Riley’s success in the front office, creating very different and successful rosters for the heat that have had a good string of success since 2000, is damn near unparalleled and certainly blows Jackson’s record away.
Dave Chappelle got that to work three hours.
It cements his legacy that he’s a great coach when he has top 50 all time players on his team and not so great coach/GM or whatever he is/was when he doesn’t.
My take on this is that Phil wanted to buy out Melo. Dolan refused. Phil said, hey you said I could run the team any way I want to and I want to buy out Melo. Dolan refused. Phil said, well, then buy me out. Dolan accepted.
The greatest trick Phil Jackson ever pulled was to convince James Dolan he wanted to stay.
