I guess we all do have baggage. I can’t really deny that that argument is a thing in men, and I can see a kernel of truth to it. I met my wife when she was 30 (I was 25) and she DID come with a lot of baggage, which she rather unfairly dumped onto me. We are still working on it
Damn that kid’s got spirit. I want him to narrate my life, provided I do something worthwhile with it
My now wife faced the same problem LW1 has. She became jaded and had a resting bitch face when interacting with men (her own admission). I dont really know how it worked out for her friends-wise, but most men know not to bother with her at this point.
It’s such a complicated thing when it’s the boss the one doing the harassing. Most of us are cowards and stay quiet, up until somebody doesn’t, and somehow doesn’t face any permanent backlash for speaking up.
The word has no associated social implications down here. It’s mostly “how the blacks call eachother on the tv”, and given how charitable the US has been with the rest of the world, I have not seen any desire to correct said use of the word.
I mostly know about the taboo status of the word by frequenting US-based blogs…
Nope. Latin american here. No way that was a mistake. What probably happened is that the word has no associated social weight down here, and since it’s used pretty liberally on black cultural exports, most tend to associate the two.
Many words are gendered in spanish. La negra is just “the black woman”
There aren’t any connotations to it.
You also have to understand that for the rest of latin america, your cultural exports are the norm for us. We have some awareness that the “n-word” is bad, but our exposure to it comes through music, film and tv. And those are filled with examples of a quite liberal use of the…
How on earth isn’t?
You guys routinely mispronounce latinx names. Better not trot out that particular talking point
I’m not black, so not exactly an authority on the subject, but he needed to convey the intention of the racist man, saying that he had problems with the original pronunciation of the word while being OK with the modified version. You can’t explain that saying “I have no problem with n-words, it’s n-words that I hate”
Thank god they have you to save them...
Or “You don’t look all that ethnic, considering... you know, where you come from”
Okay, what are the physics of that dress? Is there some glue involved?
Treat us like he’d like to be treated?
I dont want any russian pee on me, thanks
It is such a monumental task to change the soccer culture here. Even the women fans scoff at the idea of making it more inclusive and respectful
they lumped us with The Root. Prolly gonna bring asian-americans aboard soon
I grabbed Sofia Vergara’s boobs without her consent. She didn’t mind, considering I was 2 months old.
This is absolutely true, btw
Thanks for making the point that we can’t
