You cannot possibly mean that you believe Lucille Ball was Latina. Come on, now.  Getting so very butt-hurt when you have the facts wrong is just laughable.

Oof

This is such a great example of people looking to be outraged about anything & everything + trying to make everything about race and ethnicity. Look at you defending a definitely white woman from being played by a white woman because you thought she was Latina. Nicole Kidman is doing brownface?!! Rather go and read

I mean, she’s asked the same questions over and over again and is naturally going to give similar answers. This is not nearly as egregious as Gaga using the exact same line, word for word, over and over again for months.

Lucille Ball wasn’t Latina. She married a Latino man, but she herself mostly English with a little Scottish, French and Irish.

I think this is an interesting point to focus on. I’m going to watch it. Kidman is an incredible actress and she looks fantastic.

with the backlash of her casting

I can't say I remember Grinch clearly but I'm pretty sure he stopped staying in his own lane when he stole everybody's stuff. No one cares that he did it to get attention. If someone burglarizes your home you're probably not going to be super sympathetic to how they got to that point.

There is the possibility of a premature birth. That’s as good a reason as any other to not talk about it.

This is getting kinda gross. Leave them be and stop playing detective with pregnant women’s bodies. Nobody has to explain to anybody how long their pregnancy was.

Between this utter failure to conduct a one-minute Google search for Kwan’s credentials and qualifications, and the willful misinterpretation of Ben Affleck’s comments (which seemingly no one in the comments is agreeing with,) it feels especially bad, even by ‘Dirt Bag’ standards.

he inadvertently spoke poorly of [his children]

I don’t understand picking apart what this man said to make him look bad.

Michelle Kwan has a degree in International Relations from the University of Denver, a Masters of Law & Diplomacy from Tufts, and worked in the State department for eight years.  She’s absolutely qualified to be an ambassador (and her support of Biden certainly doesn’t hurt).

So, in other words, he always meant that he handled it horribly, was an idiot and selfish asshole, and it was wrong. And some people heard (somehow) “It was my wife and kids’ fault.” I don’t see it, but I guess you really have to want it.

I cannot wait to see this.

I mean that trailer you linked literally says it’s inspired by Céline Dion but thanks for cracking the case.

Hard disagree. I think this stuff is good to share publicly, to reduce stigma and help people realize they aren’t the only ones struggling with certain feelings and coping in unhealthy ways.

Agreed; it’s weird take to say he was blaming his kids. It really just seems like he was providing an honest, clinical inventory of the factors that weighed into his decisional process in that moment.

To me it isn’t as much that he’s blaming his marriage and kids as he is saying he was depressed and unhappy and using alcohol as a way to avoid making difficult decisions regarding his marriage. He was depressed and self-medicated with alcohol which is not terribly uncommon. I know it’s popular to dog on Affleck but I
