Hellboy has a very dry sense of humor that he uses in those ridiculous horror/fantasy/sci-fi situations he finds himself in. They weren't exactly the wittiest of jokes. Let's face it: Del Toro's a great set designer but a lousy writer/director. The Hellboy movies were boring wastes of time.

Taika Waititi has a really good directing resume, I'd give it to him. Also, his sense of humor is better than Del Toro's, feels more organic to the story, while Del Toro's humor feels forced and jammed in at awkward moments.

YES! Now can someone reboot the franchise with a better director?
