Equal volumes of table salt and kosher salt will produce completely different levels of saltiness. A solid block of salt on top of your eggs isn't going to dissolve the same way pickling salt would.

@grahamj1978: I've been researching, and I've seen feedback about whether you can successfully switch from IDE to AHCI after you've installed.

@clipper99: Yeah, I figured this was the problem after I tried using a flash install method. Now I have to figure out where to get a floppy disk AND a floppy drive.... I'll give it a go!

@Triumph: I tried using the flash drive method, and windows installer cannot see any SATA devices. It also can't write to another USB drive that I plugged in, due to "cmos sata settings".
