superlatives are not enough
This show gets my vote for best cast of any sitcom ever. Absolutely everybody brings their A game, and the actors and writers managed to craft some of the most unique characters in tv history. Also best writing ever. well, in a non-simpsons category.

I'm of the opinion that Smooth Criminal is the best thing he ever did, so I'll agree.

Season 1 was by far the best of this show and it works really well with a self-contained arc. It got two meandering and soapy in subsequent seasons, but the finale I agree is one of the best ever.

Speaking of which, does anyone know when the new one comes out? The one that takes place 100 years later or whatever and follows that girl.

Structure
One of the best aspects of this series is the way that it is so perfectly structured. It all works together so well that it really feels as if the creators mapped out all 3 seasons before starting episode 1. It makes for an immensely satisfying watch.
It feels as if the story couldn't be told any other way.

Momo is consistently hilarious in the background of many scenes. I love that little lemur.

Absolutely, Close-Watcher. One of my very favorite things about the show is how well-developed the world is. It's so detailed and the way the societies have adapted to their bending powers makes a lot of sense. It doesn't just affect the technological and historical developments of the different nations, but their

damn limited releases. I want to see it! NY and LA get all the movies.

uh, sure anonymous internet commenter. For you, anything.

Wow, you guys are awfully quick to dismiss his argument as bullshit. I don't agree with all of his points, but I do think the guy is on to something in trying to parse out different kinds of comedy and the trend indicated by the big hits of today. It's clear to me that they are a different style from the big comedies

why?
I just didn't get the hoopla over the first. It was entertaining enough and certainly the best thing Dreamworks had put out at that time (now, it's definitely How to Train your Dragon), but I thought it was merely good enough and certainly not great. There just isn't much there.

And Season 6 is also the one that has Sopranos Home Movies, Kennedy and Heidi, The Blue Comet and Made in America, all among the best in the series run.

What I remember after this episode aired is that it apparently inspired two teenagers to cut off the head of their mother.

Clone High had a perfect season. It's great.

Hey!
Hey Alison Willmore, glad to see you writing for the AV Club now. I miss your podcast with Matt Singer.

See, I like them precisely because they're "pretentious elitist intellectuals." It's refreshing to hear people with a vocabulary speak intelligently on pop culture topics, especially because they are coming from a perspective that's very different from the rest of the pop culture podcasts I listen to.
They're also a

So so hot. So glad the episode focused on her, instead of going with the obvious Jeff.

I knew it! Those two movies were incomprehensible. It was never clear what anyone's motivation was. A visual mess too. Just a bunch of CGI thrown at the screen.
