Next week on Lost:

The Candidate
Seems clear to me that Jack is the clear choice here. He's already being set up as the antithesis to NotLocke. Sun took his hand, but not Smokey's.

Using Desmond, electromagnetism
So we know that Widmore is looking for pockets of electromagnetism on the island and that he brought Desmond along to use him as some kind of weapon against Smokey.
We know what happens to Desmond when he is exposed to these pockets of electromagnetism. He flashes through time, except

Don't worry. Sarcasm is hard to convey in writing. The internet still hasn't found a suitable mark to use for indicating sarcasm, but rest assured that the top web scientists are on the case!

Simpson's Impact on References
It's gotten to the point where I'll watch classic stuff I'm unfamiliar with just to be able to fully understand the Simpsons reference, so I can appreciate it all the more.

on the official lost podcast Darlton says that both the cave and the lighthouse lists were created by jacob and that there is a reason Kate is crossed off in one and not the other.

like the shawshank redemption guy

Christian will be back, and it'll be Smokey's play to get Jack on his side. After all Jack hasn't really seen his father since he died except for occasional glimpses and all those unresolved daddy issues are gonna come into play in a big way.

Why is the Jacob/Smokey argument about people so important?
this bet that Jacob and Smokey have going about the nature of humans, and what Jacob's ultimate endgame is regarding Smokey. Why does he utilize a bunch of people over and over again to prove this point to Smokey knowing the danger that they pose in regards

good call Patrick. Having different people from different times also explains the other structures on the island. Like that temple that resembles mesoamerican architecture or those ruins which seemed more greco-roman.

Wow, I disagree completely bonerland. I welcomed the fact that this episode was one long flashback without all the usual cutting back and forth, and I was especially grateful to have no flash sideways in this episode.
This was an episode I'd been waiting for for a long time and it did not disappoint.

Here are some other numbers: 6.3, 10.9, 1.64, 3.14

Final Destination 2 is actually really good for what it is. It's by far the best of the FD movies.

LA is a nice town to visit, but I don't know how anyone can live there. That place is so….LA.
The Bay Area is definitely where you guys should come. San Francisco is pretty great.

Megan Fox
This comment board is gonna be full of Megan Fox hate, but I'll go on record as saying I like the girl. Not so much her acting or even her looks (tho she does have this Megan Foxesque quality about her), but I think she comes across as surprisingly aware and even funny in real life. Plus she called out

oh, I agree about the best screenplay win, just a guy. Precious certainly didn't deserve it.

Pot
At first I was wondering what kind of family from ultra liberal Berkeley of all places has such a 1950ish attitude toward marijuana ( I've actually smoked with my Berkeley friend's parents, the whole family actually.)

There wasn't much of a backlash because Up in the Air faded so much. Had it been winning a bunch of awards, the cries against the film would have been much greater. Actually I feel like this movie is neither over nor underrated but rated just right because of that. A sweet film, but a trifle.

definitely "the blurst of times" is what you were looking for.

Have you come around yet, Noel?
Well Noel, seems you are the Armond White to your fellow critics this episode. General critical and fan reaction is very positive.
