Directors don't usually do the trailers. There are whole trailer production houses who make those, and they all tend to come out the same.

Given that Wonder Woman had a coherent story, I expect this is a bit exaggerated. I'd certainly believe he contributed ideas and probably visual concepts and set pieces. But I fully expect it was Jenkins' structure and sensibilities that kept everything on track.
Cavill is dull because he's been directed to BE dull. He's not even really playing Superman, he's mopey super-alien-guy.
