Celebrated punk musician?
On a side note...let’s never refer to Blink 182 or Good Charlotte as “punk" ever again because no...just no. That’s about as mainstream pop as it gets no matter what their publicist will have you believe.
Lisa is saying what she knows people want to hear. She’s really eating this up with a spoon and this is exactly what she’s been hoping for since she joined the show. She wants her girls to be the next Bella and Gigi so bad. I think she’s even said that out loud? And the comment about her eating disorder was a huge red…
“freedommmmm but not really!” America.
“In my not-at-all professional opinion, Aguilera could’ve gone the Britney way, but she was branded as the SEXXXYYY one, even before her unfortunate brush with dreadlocks.”
YES!!!
Kudos to BET for being like “be as fucking gay as you want in your performance”.
Hip Hop (and most of its variations) has long since passed me by, but Little Nas X is about as hip-hop (i.e. rebellious) as it gets.
Exactly. When the original tweets were becoming a real-time phenomenon, I was astounded by the humor people were finding in them. The idea of turning rape and abduction into a zany arthouse screenplay is just beyond me.
Yea agreed there was not thing exhilarating or humorous about that story. It’s absolutely horrifying and why we need to make sex work safe and legal.
I read King’s twitter thread in its entirety.
Oh No, Lil Kim.
To herself.
I can confirm it is fine and very uneven. You could do worse than to watch it, but I could think of dozens of other things to watch first.
I would watch Christina Hendricks read the phone book. That is all.
I love all three of these actresses but nothing about the commercials or reviews for this made me want to watch it at all. Even commenters here who watched it regularly mostly said it was fine at best and very uneven. Here’s hoping they all get more interesting gigs next time around.
Meghan McCain is what happens when a mediocre white girl with a powerful father doesn’t hear shut up enough growing up. The fact that she’s making it pay is almost admirable, since most women like Meghan McCain are hitching up their overwashed leggings while trying to decide between the “It’s Wine O’Clock” sign and…
I’m always skeptical about remakes, but if nothing else hopefully this encourages people to rediscover the wonderful original - the sadly overlooked gem of HBO’s ‘golden age’.
The only bad part about this is we’re not going to see Eric Wareheim probably, and that’s a tremendous shame. I fucking adored him in the first two seasons.
I love and have loved Jean Smart forever so I am really enjoying Hacks. I also am enjoying scrutinizing Hannah Einbinder for resemblances to her mom, Laraine Newman. She’s great, and the two of them play very well off of each other.
