I don’t know about the Scots, but the Irish weren’t always “white” (in quotes bc whiteness has little to do with skin color). Many immigrant groups who are now considered white were not always, including Germans and Poles. Whiteness is fungible.

White male ally question. I love the shirt and the discussion it brings (the design is spot on—accurate parody and not a shred of offensiveness, except what the viewer brings with them). But, as a white male, I’d hate to be seen promoting white power.

Actually, as long as a racial slur wasn’t written under the (non-offensive) image, I’d probably just chuckle and give him props for representing.

Then again, today I saw a white dude in a t-shirt that said “I Met God. She’s Black,” and smiled and said, “Yes, I am.”

I mean, it’s literally meant to be offensive and provocative to call attention to all of the racist-ass “Indian” logos.

Also the font is reminiscent of the NFL team, though possibly not the exact same one.

The gold on the Redskins logo is a bit more yellow, as is the case on this “Caucasians” shirt.

Particularly clueless and racist white people will often react instinctively defensive when their own discriminatory behavior is pointed out to them. Conflating any rebuke into a personal attack is an emotional defense mechanism they employ to prevent them from having to face their own hypocrisy.
