Exactly. The local C&C used to be cool. Even my son showing up in his beater $800 Miata NA got people talking to him and offering to help with his project. I’ve just found out that they are planning on banning ‘undesirables’. ‘Undesirables’ loosely defined as ‘we know it when we see it’. Imports, tuners, ricers, etc.

No one’s buying them because no one understands their naming scheme. I couldn’t tell you the difference between a MKC, MKS, or MDK. You tell someone you drive a Lincoln MKX and they’ll look at you and wonder if that’s an SUV or a sedan. Then they’ll laugh about the McConaughey ads. Tell them you drive a ‘Continental’

It was well worn from all the slapping. They knew it was reachable. People raise their arms on coasters all the time. It just required a little lean to the left to reach. You didn’t need to stand up or even push yourself out of the seat to get there. Anyone that was taller than 6-foot could easily touch it.

On Thunder Mountain in Orlando there used to be a possum hanging from a tree you could just barely reach out and slap from the left side of the car. It was made of foam but at 40mph it was like slapping plywood and stung pretty good. They removed it like 10 years ago, much to our dismay.

It felt like it took 2200 attempts. Fuck that challenge.

My very first new car was a ‘91 Amigo. We drove that thing everywhere and loved it. Mountains, beach, desert, everywhere. It was great for hauling our dog. The dog could ride in back out in the open air and be happy as can be. That was before the additional rear roll bar which made them look weird. They could even do

Schnitzel? Sauerkraut? Wurst?

One question:

If I get to ride along or drive the track in the manufacturer’s cars, yes. :D

57 seems like a lot. As someone who travels to Japan semi-frequently, and who also has chronic pain with Oxy and Vicodin scripts, I know their rules pretty well. You can’t just throw a bottle in your carry-on and saunter through Customs. They are hard core when it comes to narcotics importation.

Another vote for CotA.

This pic could have been my garage a couple years ago. I had a green ‘94 D-90 NAS and a white ‘91 Classic. I sold off the Defender and kept the Classic. The Defender was an amazing vehicle but the Classic is just about as capable off road and a whole lot more comfortable. I still have the Classic and it passed it’s

My wife is also unafraid of grease under her fingernails. Gloves are for wimps. She’ll happily crawl under the hood to help replace valve seals. She can also reach those small places I can’t.

I’m glad to see the drop in the Cougars. My first car was a ‘70 Cougar with a 351C. I was hunting for one a couple years ago and the prices were getting stupid. I bought my T-bird instead. Maybe I need to start looking around while the getting is good.

As the owner of a Bullet Bird I must agree. The Square Birds never did it for me. I’ve got the tonneau for mine so I can do the ‘fake’ 2-seater when I don’t need to carry more than one passenger.

It is. And it’s a term I haven’t heard since I was a kid in the 70’s. Which I guess goes with the era of car mentioned. I read that just now and it brought back some memories.

Now playing

Or, you can read the manual for your Volkswagen and know you can open the door with the key when the remote battery goes dead.

Another problem that can be solved by knowing how your cars works before you get in trouble.

My favorite driver. And not because I got to drive him around CotA in my Thunderbird before the race last year. Ok, it’s totally because he rode in my car. :)

In its infancy, yes. But, they gone over a million miles with _zero_ at-fault accidents. That seems like a damn good starting place.

My son’s first car was an NA he saved up for and bought at 17. If you raise them right they know what good and affordable cars are.
