I think the automobile arguably changed life for the worse. As convenient as they are; with traffic being as bad as it is now, the pollution they spew into the air, the deaths from accidents and shoddy craftsmanship (re: Toyota's troubles), and the advent of sprawl, I'm just not sure it was worth it.
