Funny Face is SO creepy.

Great list.

I'm not sure if the Ross and Rachel relationship could ever be salvaged— it was toxic and emotionally abusive from the start— but Scrubs is one of the only shows that I've seen that actually does a good job at selling us on the central will-they/won't-they couple that I've seen.

Agreed. The War Doctor isn't different enough from the regular Doctor to really justify the major narrative shift that a "secret" regeneration implies.

What does that have to do with being "owned" by Showtime?

I've always had mayonnaise on elotes rather than sour cream; that's what the street vendors in Sacramento would use, and I've made it that way ever since. I'll have to give this version a try.

It goes on a bit too long, but I agree. A 3-minute radio edit would be perfect.

The ending also speak to a healthy way to engage with fiction and fandom.

It's very good! Lots of weird tonal shifts to be sure, but I kinda love that about it. It's got a great sense of design, and some denser thematics than it is often given credit for. It's become a favorite of mine.

I've watched it with my nephew, and he was really taken by it. The moment where Sarah has to choose between all of her toys and going to save her brother really kind of shook him— that kind of decision had never crossed his mind before ("Couldn't she take SOME of her toys?"), but it was really cool to see him grapple

"increasingly phoned-in"

I believe they've said the ending has been changed.

The first one is a modern classic. A swashbuckling action-adventure-horror-comedy in the grand tradition of old Hollywood. It still feels vibrant and fresh today, 14 years later.

Venom IS a recognizable character. Just google "Venom [anything]" and you'll get hits (mug, t-shirt, button, pillow, magnet, shower-curtain). He's one of Marvel's most highly marketed characters.

A photo is a single frame.

It's already been renewed for 2 more seasons.

I disagree with the suggestion that understanding one's craft and the thematic implications of your work— whether "political" or otherwise— is a detriment to creativity. Understanding the choices you are making as a writer can only expand your capabilities, making you aware of options you might not have otherwise

Why would a video criticizing the trope of older dudes falling in love with child-like women be a "left" thing?

Yeah, along with 1999, I would say 1939 (Wizard of Oz, Gone with the Wind, Gunga Din, Stagecoach, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Only Angels Have Wings) and 2007 (No Country for Old Men, Zodiac, Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, The Bourne Ultimatum, Hot Fuzz, There Will Be Blood) are the years I

The Matrix was actually released about 3 weeks prior to Columbine, but it would have still been in theaters.
