LOL I actually laughed even though this is pretty depressing. I'm enjoying everyone's different reactions to splitting checks. Thanks for the advice - I'll be looking into it.

Second the recommendation for Hard Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World. It wasn't my first, but it's still my favorite.

I knew that this comment was going to come up, and I'm really sad that in your world view my mention of the enjoyment of an alcoholic drink sends up red flags of addiction and dependence instead of thoughts of a wonderful artisan product that is to be appreciated and shared in moderation with those whose company you

It is when being a writer is his job.

He's creeping for income.

Doug Barry is a barely readable dimwit for the most part. And he waits until the weekend to flood everyone with his dubious "wisdom".

I read that as "Doug Funny," as in from the show "Doug," and was really baffled for a minute there.

Speaking strictly as Nigerian, it is getting harder to convince people i am prince of nigeria. Almost no one responds to emails anymore. If you find this article as racist as I do, contact me with your credit card info.

Perfect explanation. Today's Dirt Bag had like a 5 line run on sentence and was just stupid. I think it was the first time I really noticed and thought, "Oh, this is why everyone is always so mean to Doug." It was excessively awful. And I missed the whole Chris Brown thing because I refuse to give Chris Brown

If he ever apologized or acknowledged it I sure missed it and I kept reading those articles for quite a while. Certainly he never acknowledged it even when they did their follow up/retraction article.

No shit! It smacked of some idiot 7 year old being a douchekiddo and their mommy having to call the other kid's mommy to apologize for them!

My favorite is Hard Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World. It was also the first of his that I read, so that may be why I liked it so much- the whole newness thing.

Even just a few lines on Twitter acknowledging that he fucked up would have a been a positive but nope, nothing!

Like Klissell I responded to a similar question a while ago, but I'll repeat my answer. Aside from the aforementioned bad writing and failure at comedy, he wrote an article about one or two years ago making light of a black infant being called the n word and then physically assaulted. He then made a "babies on

A lot of people called him out in both comments here and on Twitter. I'm sure he received quite a few e-mails as well but has never acknowledged the whole thing which has just made it that much worse.

Yeah, having another author write the apology article for the whole thing really got me. I mean, have him do his own damn apology. (or shit, maybe he tried and it was that bad — who knows?)

Relatively new to Jezebel too. My cynical perspective on Doug: people treat him like he's that male feminist who you're not too sure is actually down with the cause or is just writing what he thinks the women on Jezebel want to hear. And possibly he might be creepily doing it to get laid

I think everyone would have forgiven him the Chris Brown thing had he at least apologized and acknowledged that what he said was wrong/ fucked up. It's the lack of accountability for being shitty that has riled so many people up.

He's an unrepentant asshole. The Chris Brown/child molestation article was more than enough, and should've gotten him fired, but there are plenty of other instances of his poorly thought out and insensitive writing.

I wouldn't say infuriated, but I often cringe or roll my eyes if it bothers me. As a Canadian, I've heard we live in igloos and there's constant snow, that we're just another state of the US, we have a president, and someone I know once convinced a bunch of Americans that we use cold fire to keep our igloos from
