In the beer column, I suggest an imperial IPA. They can be very balanced and have enough bite to challenge the richness of a good steak.

It was mandatory in the Canadian city I bought my last bike in too. The salesman’s exact words were “Our cheapest bell is seven bucks. The bylaw fine for not having one is a hundred and fifty. Your call.”

Bells are manditory in some places in North America too. It is on the books for British Columbia.

For my part, I’d prefer an electric horn, nothing obnoxious, just a (soft) sort of honk when you’re coming up close on someone(s).

I wonder if such things exist. I’d go for a battery-powered option. Like I said tho, it would have to be a subdued sound coming out of it, yet be heard, and not startle anybody.

This works! The big key is to try to fast ~10-12 hours before “breakfast” in the new time zone (because usually you don’t eat overnight). The fast resets your eating schedule. I don’t really sleep on airplanes, so the tips that involve sleeping don’t help me at all, but this made a big difference.

On my last

Some bells are dorky. Spurcycle clearly understood the stigma and created a bell that I would happily put on a bike. The “ba-ring, ba-ring” sounds dorky and for most people safety isn’t as important as looking cool. Hence people who ride without a helmet. I don’t disagree with you, bells are an important safety

I’ve had some terrible BT headphones (Creative, do not get them)

I’ve eaten at least a bazillion Haas avocados in my lifetime, and I’ve never noticed the color of the skin changing as they ripen. I say thumbs down to this tip.

[Developer] Hi Rae, the Firefox addon is coming soon. I first published it for Chrome because it is easy to push through Chrome’s automated testing. It may take a couple of weeks until the Firefox version is released but no Safari version anytime soon as Apple charges $100 per year from developers even for the free

This was great. You know why? Because, for all of 2 minutes, I wasn’t thinking about the next four years.

I did the same thing. I lost 30 pounds and got rid of all my large-size clothes by donating them to the thrift store, and then I stocked up on smaller sizes as time went by.

When my kids were little they wore top of the line name brand clothing, all of which I got out of bins at the thrift store for about 50c an item.

Seconding JPR and vivlock. I like my Mastrad spatulas—absolutely no place for ick to settle in. I’ll never use a two piece ever.

But if it’s all one piece (without seams, completely covered in silicone), you don’t need to take the head off to clean it.

By one-piece, they mean something like this. It’s all smooth silicone on the outside - no nooks or crannies for anything to get into. I’ve had something like it for awhile now and the one-piece model is far superior to anything else.

Turth!! I’ve been there and can testify. Value Village is only a good value if they’re having a great sale.

Why do people want avocados hot? That is like wanting hot yogurt.

Bed bugs do not die in the washer so I would use the dryer first before I put it in the washer.

If you want to spend $50 on a pair of old shoes, then at least another $50 to have them resoled, go ahead.
