The weather felt dreadful the whole time I was in Amsterdam and I was glad to have the Museumkaart as an excuse to spend most of my time indoors!

I was in Amsterdam for two weeks over the ‘16-’17 holidays and my best advice is to get a Museumkaart and use the hell out of it! :) If you have enough time, take advantage of the fact that you can go back into museums to split up bigger ones (I took in the Rijksmuseum on three visits). I used the Museumkaart to visit

Will be making this, but with poblano peppers instead of green. I don’t think I’ve had a bell pepper since since I discovered the mighty poblano!

Have you ever seen the Buzzfeed video of horrified Mexicans eating Taco Bell? One older lady discovered Doritos dipped in sour cream and it was obvious her life was changed forever. I prefer salsa verde Tostitos, but same principle!

    • What’s your favorite processed, totally craptastic food you enjoy more than homemade? I honestly can’t think of anything! I was raised eating all homemade stuff and cooked from scratch most of my life. I’m sure there’s something, but the closest I can get is making homemade mac and cheese with Velveeta!

This is why when I saw my large and perfectly seasoned antique cast iron pan at a pricey antique shop for just $15 I ran for the cash register and kept mum on what a good deal it was because I didn’t want the owner to come to her senses and jack up the price on me! Similar thing with my mini — 50 cents at a garage

An unexpected compliment that I will gladly accept. :)

My favourite pizza place only has one size — too big for me to even contemplate eating in one sitting. I also only like my pizza at room temp. So when the pizza (which has only pepperoni) arrives mid-afternoon, half goes in the fridge for tomorrow and half stays out on the counter as long as I can stand it, then I eat

I like to sear my meat in my mini pan, then move it to the big one to cook. Then, I make the gravy in the little one, scraping up the bits from the searing step, as it has the perfect volume for two meals’ worth of gravy (my solo dinner + leftovers).

A mattress. I’d been sleeping for 15 years on the mattress my mother’s partner brought into the relationship that she’d bought almost 15 years before that. So it was about 30 years old and absolutely awful. Soon as I got my first job out of university and my first “nice” apartment, I refused to move the mattress into

Great tips for how to repurpose the brand new 5C Apple sent me after the battery on the old one caused it to basically explode.

I’ve heard some hogwash that McDonald’s coffee is the same the world over. Maybe it is and it’s the water that makes a difference, but I agree with your assessment. I’ve had McDonald’s coffee all over the US and Canada and it’s consistently decent in Canada and consistently just barely acceptable in the US, where I

Bad coffee is why I’m happy hazelnut flavoured creamer exists!

“The lower you can set your standard for acceptable coffee, the happier you’ll be.”

I was in Amsterdam over the ‘16-’17 holiday season and got a Museumkaart. I was so museumed out after my two weeks there, but the card let me return to some museums, like the Rijksmuseum, several times so that I didn’t get museum fatigue on the day of. So if you have the luxury of being in a city for several days and

I got a good deal on a used Fitbit Flex in July.

My pimento spread never tasted “right” until I started making it with feta instead of cream cheese. I use full fat Greek yoghurt or sour cream for smoothness and further tang (instead of mayo) and roasted red peppers. It doesn’t need anything else, but the rest of your add-ins (hot sauce, Worcestershire, etc.) would

Great video — answered all of my questions, especially why I would do this instead of, say, popping into a shop and buying something. What I especially like is that it distances you as the giver. You can give something and it’s clear that you’re not expecting anything, not even gratitude, in return since you’re not

Gmail! Still can’t figure out how anyone can run a business with that thing.

There’s nothing to be done when every single one of my issues is a well documented bug that Microsoft can’t be bothered to fix.
