I would suggest, after the nominations come out, re-release the nominated movies. I know I live in an area, that very rarely sees these movies in theaters. I’d also suggest taking a less formal approach. When the celebrities are bored out of their minds, how are we supposed to have fun?

I I totally agree. But speaking from personal experience, documentaries are about the most arduous kinds of films to make. They take years, and are costly and they don’t make their money back and they’re just about the worst profession anyone can assume, were it not for an ardent love of non-fiction and the pursuit of

That made me angry, actually. It was incredibly rude and there were only two producers on the movie. Let the guy talk, that’s why the show existed in the first place.

Agree on this, if you don’t get to give a speech after the biggest moment of your professional life then what is the point? The way the show ended last night, with a producer being cut off literally giving a speech for Best Picture was asinine.

It’s a pageant, and pageants suck. It’s essentially stuck in the same mindset as 50 years ago, when a little glamor plus some jokes plus some songs was a winning formula for television. It’s like the MLB making a big deal out of the All Star game. 50 years ago, it was the only way a lot of people could ever see some

I’m actually fine with the acceptance speeches going a bit long; the bloat lies elsewhere in the overlong comedy bits and the montages. That “celebrities-surprise-regular-folks” bit—a carry-over from last year—is the biggest waste of time. One or two “Yay for Hollywood!” montages is OK; after there, we get the point.

Now playing

As a former film student, this one is my favorite:

I think the problem is that we know who’s going to win all the major awards months in advance. There wasn’t a single surprise in the acting, directing, or picture categories. Last year was a rare exception where things went off script, but this year I was forced to find joy and surprise in categories like Best Sound

Liam Neesons!!!!

I realize this is not as important, but I saw his film along with the other nominated animated shorts, and it was a half-finished pile of vanity crap.

I lived somewhat close to where this incident happened and everyone I knew thought he did it (we may have gotten different news coverage than people out of state) but a lot of people cared more about his career than the rape they believed he committed.

The Kobe thing is infuriating because sports radio hosts named her and said she deserved to lose her anonymity because she accused someone of rape. It’s also disgusting that Kobe was given a hero’s exit when he retired and everyone pretty much forgot about the rape case. Everyone also overlooks the fact that Kobe is a

This guy was hella brave in Vietnam.

^^^^^^all the stars!!

“Sir, that bird is the symbol of our country! Why are you so afraid of America?”

Look at Rambo over here.

I feel bad for the first intern who had to talk to him after that meeting.

Thanks for reminding me that I have those to look forward to.

I don’t wanna get too “Fat old guy with no training” shrink on Trump but look at his body language when this dude’s talking. Arms wrapped tightly around himself and swaying. He’s literally rocking himself. I thought it was defensive at first (and it is) but it’s also meant to be comforting to himself.
