As someone who has been injured by a negligent driver, I hope this woman receives some jail time. Not life (which is actually not life sentence in Canada, it's called "25 years to life" where you don't get to apply for parole until after 25 years but I highly doubt she'll get that, our justice system is much…
She acted really negligently and she should go to jail for a bit because her actions caused the deaths of two people. It's not mentionned here, but she didn't even have her hazard lights on, and left her car door open. She should never be allowed to have a driver's license ever again.
Little children routinely get attached to my dog after spending some time with her. When it's time to leave, some of them scream and cry bloody murder. It's shitty, but that doesn't mean that they get to keep my dog...cause, ya know, it's MY dog.
Me and you, we understand each other.
He was in his early 20s.
As a person who was hit by a car while crossing the street because someone ran a stop sign as they were looking at their phone :
I don't understand this comment. Does she mean Tesla Motors, the one that makes electric cars? Or Tesla the dude that came up with all kinds of awesome inventions but was a total douchebag? WTF does Tesla have to do with intergalactic space travel, besides that one of the principal investors in the company Tesla…
K'Naan! The album that the original was on (because he changed most of the lyrics because he wanted the world cup song to be more uplifting and "to belong to the world cup and the world"), Troubadour, is seriously one of the most amazing records ever. Everyone should hear it.
This is so interesting. I read the first 2 Anne books and loved the movies as a middle schooler. Even when I was that young, I found it odd that Anne was.so.obsessed with Diana and all of this romantic language was used to describe Anne's feelings towards Diana. And then how Anne acted when Diana finally married…
Sorry, not sorry, but bullshit. As someone who's been on the other side - i.e. the victim of a negligent driver, this woman has no place to be suing for 1.35 million dollars and neither does her insurance company. And no, she is not a victim. She was speeding on a dark country road and hit three cyclists. The…
If you want a less idealized version, Karen Armstrong (who wrote The History of God) was a Nun in the 1960's who left the religious life and what she describes is really unappealing. I can't remember the name, but she joined a very austere order (the one thing I remember vividly is that they were only allowed 2 pairs…
I use a Diva cup and have an IUD. I asked my Gyno about it and she said that the reason that they might cause expulsion is suction/string getting caught, so you just have to be careful to a) make sure the string is tucked up properly before inserting the cup and b) always break the suction seal before pulling out…
Or a bathroom door that closes if your dog is like mine who sometimes still gets into the trashcan with the lid...
:D - This was my first new car (i.e. not just "new to me" but new new), and the sales rep asked if I wanted extra anti-theft (it already has an alarm). I said "the stick shift is anti-theft enough" and he burst out laughing.
The paddle shifters! gah, the paddles shifters...
I think this what is at the heart of the matter. Sure, we change and so do our priorities and that's whether you have kids or not. I'm the "single, no kids" friend, but I'm happy to spend sunday afternoon with my friends with kids instead of a late Friday night dinner. I like to go to bed at 10! I can't go out for…
When I went to Coachella , it was the week Levon Helm died and John Fogerty came out to sing "The Weight" with The Black Keys. Most of the crowd had no idea who Levon Helm or John Fogherty were and I was the only person singing along to the weight...it was kinda sad.
well, i did get dragged to a similar concert, but is was Christian Rock music with splashes of attempted raps. It was...interesting (and free and I got a free starbucks coffee, so ya know)
A roommate a few years ago came from a very conservative christian background (like, the whole town where she grew up was Mennonite). Her immediate family wasn't religious anymore, but she still had extended family members who tried to witness and convert them back. One of them sent her this to show what "awesome"…
