I know a 3 series was a compact sedan at one time, but at 3700 pounds plus, a BMW 3 series is considered considered “compact”. Will the embiggening of cars ever end?

I was an automotive engineer at the time this test was being developed. I worked for a major automotive company in R&D and specifically in doors.

Yup. Bought my GTI because it has a manual. I will not buy one without. 

Agreed. GTI owner here and I will not buy another GTI or R without knobs and buttons or one that has that huge fucking iPad on the dash.

The dash still has no buttons. Still a fail. Gimme knobs for climate and give me a proper volume knob please.

Yes, it’s complicated, not intuitive, and requires taking your eyes off the road to find the little slider.

4-series: I don’t hate the grille, but BMW has certainly done better. Meanwhile, with the screwed-up Hofmeister kink in the new 5-series, who knows what the hell is going on over there.

How does this list not begin and end with all those truly awful BMW SUVs? (though feel free to keep the Cybertruck and Ram trucks in between).
