@BytheSea: "Saliva-covered vaginas." LOL! I am totally in agreement with you re: the word 'lesbian.' Sometimes I say I am "girl fag." My best friend bought me a stylized pair of boy briefs with this turn of phrase silkscreened onto them and I've looooved it ever since.
@airgonaut: Totally name it Dorian. I had a douche-y elementary school teacher by that name. +1 for Dorian the Vajayjay!
Oof. Everyone has a story. It's great (to see the solidarity) and also awful (that bullying happened to so many people).
That is seriously creepy. Also, note the voiceover is obviously pitch-shifted. IMHO, it sounds like a female-to-male filtering, similar to that featured in Apple's GarageBand. Just a thought...
I have to say that I like 'Glee,' but I've been thinking recently about Kurt's character. Is he really an accurate picture of gay youth? Is his femme-y stereotype harmful?
Anyone that cites documentary "Living Dolls" as a reason TO enter a child in pageants HAS to be crazy. The entire movie, if it's the one I'm thinking of, details a mother berating and screaming at her 6 year old daughter for not learning her "routines" properly, not winning, and other such garbage.
Yes. Yes, I have "something to say." God. This is so awful. And it happened to a friend of mine, too. She woke up on the sidewalk with a GUN IN HER FACE and got her phone and wallet ripped off. She was taken to the ER and one of her friends wouldn't dump her busy social calendar to come to her aid. It's just…
"Stick insect." Right from the Adrian Mole diaries!
@Ri_L: Here, here! Harper is a great pub' house.
I enjoyed "Whip It" but thought it was a little too... Straight. Except for an uncomfortable scene between "Rosa Sparks" and one of the other roller girls in the hot tub, all lesbian subtext was left out. While a lot of those girls are straight, a lot are gay, too.
I guess I toe a hard line when it comes to rape, especially of children, WHETHER OR NOT IT IS/HAS BEEN ARGUED THAT THE ACT WAS "CONSENSUAL." At thirteen (or, younger), you are so easily swayed by those who have power over you, it's hard to know A) whether or not to "agree" and B) what exactly you are agreeing TO, is…
@shrike071: <3. Nice call. Are you an operator?
Err, link [community.livejournal.com]
Found the LJ link to the Free Polanski list ([community.livejournal.com]) and saw my fave, TILDA SWINTON, had signed. ::cries!!:: Rushdie? Soderbergh? UGH
@ladylie: Can you link the full list for those of us out of the loop?
@PamBeesley: Agreed! Wait. I think...
@mipsy6: Where did you hear that Ellen Page is a lesbian? Not that I'm contesting...
