Also, often times, you have lengthy written "dissertation" as well, in law review format, analyzing a niche area of the law. Then you have to sit for the bar exam

Acquiring a JD from any half decent program requires passing lots of testing and far more writing that a Doctor of musical education. You churn out 20-40 page papers in law school like no other professional school.
