BTW, thank you for that lovely Vette wallpaper. It's almost like a Tim Horton treat every time one of those Jalopnik auto-porn images turns out to be a big honking mural.

Maybe if you want to lessen the sting of the ding, you should offer wallpaper-sized images of this trek for money...? Just saying. After all, it IS GF Williams we're talking here.
There is also the matter of soundproofing - unless you get proper insulation against road noise (which may also deaden engine noise, and that could be food or bad), your music will definitely suffer. Classical music just doesn't work in OEM audio at highway speeds unless you have a luxury car with better inherent…
A clear example where similar numbers don't tell the whole story.
Perspective, fer crissakes! I think what SavyJalop and others must keep in mind is that drivers are not all the same; not everyone can be Mikey Schumacher or A.J. Foyt. You put two different people behind the wheels of identical cars and you probably won't get identical track times or behaviors.
Shades of "Spy Hunter."
A little "threat" - or did you mean "treat"? ;)
Is that like saying you were at fault because you failed to inform your friend of this danger, despite your prior knowledge living in the thieving, life-sucking shithole that is Los Angeles?
The fact that we are still having this conversation, and that a fair number of people also replied to offer varying opinions on the old Beetle, proves that YMMV. Poor quality should mean many parts stop working or require frequent repair and replacement. For some people including myself, that simply wasn't true. For…
Sure, that would be one major step, but I think eventually you'd want to have the handling to match also...?
You think posting two months ago makes your comment any less relevant? Or the whole Jalopnik website less relevant because this story only reached me recently?
Dunno, my experience with my dad's '72 was different than you portray. It was certainly no luxo-mobile, with uncomfortable vinyl seats, aggravating and theoretical climate control (hot in summer, cold in winter), stupid non-retractable seat belts etc.
I learned to drive a 1972 Super Beetle without a clutch when that component failed. Thanks to an article in Car and Driver Magazine which had appeared only weeks beforehand, IIRC. Was that possible due to lack of syncromesh or in spite of it?
Irregardless = without lack of regard.
I guess you've just found the raison d'être for your future resto-mod muscle car. Classic looks and power, modern sophistication and performance.
I asked because I thought I had already asked Google to look for larger versions of the small photo... Thanks again in any case
YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!
Thanks, I appreciate the gesture. Surely that car will still be around for some time and more images of it will surface.
That shot, and the very top banner photo, need to be available in a 1080p (or greater) wallpaper...
