Pipes? From what I remember the salt is contained in the boiler. The boiler is hooked into the turbine system via heat exchanger. Salt doesn't need to travel, it just sits up there on the tower gettin hot.

Eh, sort of. In what I've seen the salt (or oil) is the medium being directly acted on by the reflected sun. The salt filled boiler is then hooked into a closed loop steam turbine system with a heat exchanger that does the boiling. The turbines do the condensing/power generation and around we go.

I read somewhere that some of these plants use salt in their boilers. Molten salt holds heat for something like 73 billion years, so it can generate power at night or on a cloudy day. That sounds like a winning idea. Why is this place using water, like from the toilet?
