@dcdttu: The Nexus has 2.3 because it is stock Android. The Galaxy phones have TouchWiz on top of Android, which presumably takes 15 years to cram on top of Android.
@Ryan: I've always thought that heating a space took less energy than cooling a space as heating does not require a condenser.
