I legit frightened my wife with a surprised gasp (squeak? - nah, I’ll go with gasp) last night when the first of those two pics showed up un-prefaced on my Twitter feed.

I know it might sound crazy, but I left the city about 2.5 years back, and by far the biggest thing that I miss is the subway. Having to lay out $ for car payments/car insurance/gasoline and driving to get anywhere are not high on my list of favorite things.

Good to know.  But then also - it makes the choice of Maroon friggin’ 5 even MORE baffling...

All kidding aside, I’m not sure who’s broadcasting the game this year, but - doesn’t Levine have a part as a judge on one of the big singing competition shows? The Voice or American Idol or something? My assumption was that this was pure cross-promotion for whatever channel is airing the game, but I’ll be damned if

No one wants to play with Maroon 5 at the Super Bowl halftime show.

To be fair, when it’s Captain Kirk talking about this, he’s warning his shipmates about the deadly cold of the vacuum of space.

Casting one vote for any fight scene from Upgrade. Discount-bin Tom Hardy genuinely sold the look of surprise/confusion about what he was doing, even though he was the one doing it.

You’re conflating an actual contract with whatever an “implied contract” is. The only party who has any actionable contract with Martin as far as the remaining books goes is his publisher. That’s it.

My point is just that “his side of the transaction” IS providing the book - singular - that you’re paying for. I don’t believe that there is any “implied portion” of the transaction. Everyone hopes there will be more, but no one can guarantee that, so caveat emptor.

No, I wouldn’t, but again, there’s no certainty that ANY series of books is going to be finished when the first (or second or third, etc.) book is published. That’s just the nature of any series. As Bondurant says below, if you want to be sure you’re reading a series that won’t be concluded, then the only way to

Not sure I agree with this. This would be true if you fronted all of the money for all 7 books up front on the promise that you were getting 7 books. That’s not the case here. You’re paying for one book at a time, with the implicit knowledge that the series could fail to be finished for any NUMBER of reasons.  Any

Yeah - really enjoyed this one.  Genuinely unsettling at points, too.

Gnomon was pretty rad, but - it was 2017, wasn’t it?  Feels like it’s been a while since I read it...

Speaking as someone who’s still very big on physical media when it comes to movies/TV - this sort of thing really irritates me. How about rewarding the people who have been buying your blu-rays on day and date since the first season came out? I know it’s not really that big a deal, but it’s still kind of annoying.

Good list this year! Few things I would have added: It goes without saying, and I don’t have much to add to the discussion, but Mister Miracle was just outstanding. I really enjoyed both Isola and Skyward in terms of new books from Image. Abbott from Saladin Ahmed was pretty rad. And Highest House, with its

Sea-Man: Weirdest Dreamcast game, or weirdest game?

I can see how you’d feel that way.  It worked for me, though.  YMMV.  Whishaw is great in it, though.

If that “Perfume” is the Tom Tykwer “Perfume”, then - highly recommended.  Such an under-seen movie.

... ahem ...
