Sucks that you couldn't go. I was actually going to buy a copy of your book, but then I ended up giving all of my whopping $40 in cash to Tony Millionaire for a Drinky Crow sketch. All of the Fantagraphics guys kind of got screwed; for whatever reason, Fantagraphics didn't get any books to the con for them, so

I was at DINK in Denver this last weekend (got to meet Los Bros Hernandez and Tony Millionaire, which was cool), and my wife's Lying Cat shirt got more shout-outs from people in a shorter amount of time than any other article of clothing I've ever seen ever. It started to get absurd.

The only way that I can get behind this is if Breslin does the EXACT same dance sequence as she does at the end of Little Miss Sunshine. Like - an exact recreation of that scene, no matter how little sense it makes. Put on the glasses, change the setting - whole deal.

I don't think the issue of her upbringing was really presented as a huge deal in the comics. She was shown to be a classmate of Peter Parker before getting her powers, but I don't remember a whole lot of focus on it, at any rate. I know she wasn't shown as getting along with her mom for a long time, which is why it

ChancellorPuddinghead has a point, though…

Yeah, in retrospect, according to what has been presented on the show, I'm pretty sure that her parents on the show died. Been a little while since I watched the show, and the comic with her mom just came out, so - conflating.

Oh I forgot all about that. But still - it's comics/comic book shows, so - maybe they were only "dead" instead of dead.

I'm not sure why, but my money is on her playing Jessica's mom. They've introduced her as a character in the comics recently, and it seems like fertile ground to spend a bit more time on the family that helped to make Jessica into Jessica.

Me too - opening for R.E.M. on the "Up" tour. The time she does fly.

Cool! I've corrupted my wife into being equally irresponsbile and taking a day off of packing, so we'll both be going. Should be fun!

Tabling at DINK, I'm guessing? I'm REALLY hoping to get down for it. I live about an hour north of Denver, and getting there is easy, but I'm in the middle of a move, and I probably shouldn't kill a day to go to a con. But… Los Bros Hernandez!

I suppose that's true; it likely just feels more prevalent today because the issue of climate change is so fundamental to our continued existence as a species. Lead paint and tobacco were certainly issues that were causing harm, but comparatively localized harm. But you're entirely correct - whenever science has

Go then. There are other release dates than these.

Well yeah, but OUR scientists were seen as assets for our country. This sort of delegitimization of science generally wasn't really going on during the space race and the nuclear buildup; generally both sides of the aisle at least trusted that the people running NASA and building our nukes knew what they were talking

I guess to be fair, he did grow up during a an unusual time where, for the most part, science WASN'T politicized to such a substantial degree. We're just sort of reverting to the norm. And, as such, wiping ourselves off of the face of the planet by doing so.

This. Science has always been political. One of the things that it does is encourage skepticism and asking of questions, and that's an inherently political point of view.

Welcome back you crazy rapping highly intelligent bipedal murder lizard you! Seeing this post makes things seem more right with the world!

This is my tact as well. If someone shows genuine contrition, that has to be taken into account. I truly do believe that there's inherent value in learning to forgive, and I don't think it's a healthy perspective to take to say that if someone commits a violent crime, they should be sent to actor/singer/artist jail

Agreed. Dodey oh doe indeed.

I don't care what people say is/is not cool - I legit like most of the Humpty Hump songs. Humpty Dance is fun as hell, as is The Return of the Crazy One as is The Odd Couple (with the one and only Biz Markie).
