"Woodpile of FAILURE" Oh, Once Upon A Time, never change.

It's been 4 years since I saw Babylon 5 for the first time and I can honestly say I do not remember Zack at all.

"You're going to need somewhere to staaay." But yeah, that was super inappropriate. Shut up, Franklin.

This is my second time watching the show and I just got the comment about Amanda Carter's "grandfather John." John Carter. Of Mars.

Yeah, the funeral was the first it actually felt like a small town to me. TV small towns frequently use "quirkiness" as a sort of shorthand (and Gilmore Girls has not escaped that trope thus far), but people coming together for a neighbor has definitely been part of my experience. (Although probably with more

"Rory's Birthday Parties" was when the show finally clicked for me. The humanization of Emily, the horror of being at a party where everyone is either a stranger or someone who dislikes you, even the awkward Dean romance. (Young Jared Padalecki is gangly.) Lovely.

Nope. Fountain pens are awesome. I think it's likely Rory would like it, too. I thought that scene was about how both of them see Rory the way they want to (although Lorelai still does know her much better). There is nothing I have seen that makes me think Rory would want a pink guitar purse.

"Throne" was the first episode I saw, too. I actually only caught the second half, which was incredibly confusing ("Who are these people? WTF is happening? Puppets?") but something about it had me checking in with the next week.

I sort of agree with you there. I love it when they're being giant cheesy idiots.

Thanks! They're two of my favorite books.

Yay, I'm excited! This is my first time watching Gilmore Girls. I only saw the pilot because I didn't know we were watching two episodes.

I have had this discussion with my brother. We came to the conclusion that frak is better as an exclamation ("Frak!") because it has that nice hard k sound, but frell is better as an adjective ("That frelling idiot!") because the l's just roll off your tongue.

Welcome! Farscape is a show that takes a while to get into. It took till the very end of season 1 for me to really start loving it. But it really does get better. Season 3 is one of my favorite seasons of any television show. It's up there with Season 1 of BSG for me.

He did get a little puffy, but he's still got it.

Good lord, that is the most phallic spaceship I have ever seen.

I am! I watched the first two episodes of season 2 back when the reviews were still going up because I couldn't wait. Season 2 is when it gets good.

I really hope Eiko Ishioka wins posthumously for Mirror Mirror. Definitely the most memorable costumes for me this year.

Tor.com is also doing a (non-spoilers, or at least none that I've noticed) re-read of Malazan, which I have found extremely helpful just for keeping track of what's going on. (I'm  two books in, and taking it pretty slow.)

I've been reading a lot of disappointing books lately. Sweet Tooth was okay, but I was mostly bored and the twist didn't make up for it. I hated Rosamund Lupton's Afterwards despite having liked her Sister. It was treacly and predictable, with lots of stuff about theunbreakable bonds of motherhood. Ugh. I also read Poi

Wow. I bow to your superior Tolkien knowledge, @avclub-0f2aab038be93ff407d92af691001e73:disqus .
