It's been a while since I read the Conan Doyle stories, but Holmes did something with bees, no? And in the stories, he was definitely writing the same pamphlet mentioned in the show. I like the Laurie R. King stories too, but I think this is just a case of the two drawing from the same source text.

Ridiculous deductions are part of the Holmes canon, though, so at least they're being consistent.

But how many of those women have been raped or kidnapped? Especially compared to how many men?

From what it sounds like, the creators have wanted to do this show for a while, but the recent success of Sherlock is what finally got it greenlit.

I like Phantom too, but I haven't seen any stage productions so maybe I'm not the best judge. But it's fine. It looked great, the actors were okay, and the singing was adequate. Also, I was 15 when it came out and still thought Gerard Butler was sexy.

Ugh, yes, why are Korean dramas so addictive? I just finished watching an episode of Ghost in another tab, a show which actually uses the Phantom of the Opera overture at least once per episode for the first seven episodes.

Anyone else get a Scandal in Bohemia/Irene Adler vibe from this episode? Especially with the way they got ahold of the benzene.
