You sound like you know plenty about the Vietnamese language, cause you're dead on about regional sounds. In the North they don't have R sounds as much. The common name for girls is Trang, but pronounced "Chang". In the South it's pronounced how it's spelled.

I didn't say there weren't any, just that I couldn't think of any, though I'm more familiar with Cantonese surnames, or Mandarin versions of them (like Mei/Mui or Chen/Chan, etc), which might explain why I couldn't think of any.
