Honestly, getting super dressed up or getting into costumes for play or for dinner has been a big help at my place. It’s a great idea. It forces you to put a little effort in, during this time that I forget what day it is and whether or not I showered recently.
As the youngest, the most horrendous and offensive thing I can say to my family is, “I’m not raising my kid to do Shitty Thing My Parents Instilled in Their Kids. The cycle ends with me.”
You're not wrong, but they are pioneers in that they pulled the plug before William was going to in 25-30 years. I give them some credit for that and all the credit for saying, "We're not going to raise our kid this way."

I hate to say it, but tech workers and their libertarian, self-centred, I-know-better beliefs are to blame for *many* things (rising rents, increasing inequality, lack of affordable housing) but NOT the shelter-in-place orders. Many tech workers can work from home and immediately did so. Many also stopped eating out…
Seriously. Kicking someone who’s clearly down in the guise of praise is gross. Especially since Joan clearly needs all of the other writing assignments to get by. These sort of pieces take more time than an aggregated gossip column. She can’t make a living on them alone, at least not at this phase of her career.
