I'd have to disagree. Castle in the Sky is one of my favorites, and I know several others who love it. I think perhaps it more appeals to Japanese fans though, for some reason.

One of the things I learned doing the story missions as a thief is that, if you want to survive, never stop moving. Bleed, cripple, move. Strike, dodge, circle. I do WAY better on my own now that I have that philosophy. Pretty sure its the way thief was meant to be played.
