Agreed. If you have guns and kids, lock up the guns and teach the kids basic firearms safety. Neglecting either is not being a responsible owner/parent and asking for an accident.  

If you own guns, its important to both lock the gun up securely and introduce the child to guns as soon as you feel comfortable. Better to have them know about it AND understand it and its power, rather than have them know about it and not.
