THPS2 has become my favorite over the years because it set us up as a franchise, and had many iconic maps / skaters / songs that people still talk about. I was partial to N64 at the time though.

It has in the sense that the information (i.e. new tricks) travels instantly, so there is no advantage to where you live or who you know. It also allows skaters from the most unlikely places to be recognized. I love it.
