I love everything about your post.
Great topic!

HZD—got it in the bundle for the PS4, played it a good bit and realized that it wasn’t a good fit for me. I gave it a few more tries...forgot where I was, what was important, and how to control the character—then that was that.
Perhaps it is because I am now an Old or perhaps what I want from my gaming time has…
Been thinking Hollow Knight will be my next purchase. Just finished Blasphemous and haven’t been sure about doing another Metroidvania game right away...but then I keep hearing about the little things it does right (like flavor text).
I’m only giving one star today and I give it to you.
As a kid, my buddy had Race Drivin’ on his PC (maybe a 386? 486? I can’t remember). One of my first “funny video game memories” was during this game. While we went over a jump, both he and I collectively leaned up and off our seats...attempting to peer down “into” the computer as if that would help us see the track…
Playing some Spiritfarer. However, I’m losing some motivation. I love the characters and the art direction, yet it also seems like Chores: The Game. Perhaps I have the wrong mindset for it---so yeah, I guess I’m playing Spiritfarer. :)
Santorini is great--I it’s most fun as a straight up abstract without using the god-cards (which are fun, but can unbalance the game in my opinion).

This is always the answer.
Atari 7800, the failed attempt at competing with the NES, was backward compatible with the Atari 2600. I had a pretty even split between of games between the two as a kid.
Agreed with this sentiment. I think when a game (tabletop or video) switches platforms, if designers try to make it “like for like” then it just seems like the better choice to play it as it was originally created.
I read that last part of your comment with Hamilton and Lafayette giving each other a high five.
“Fastly.” Great Zeus on a Unicorn. They have started to communicate like the Orange Bloviator.
I’m a glutton for Shmup/Run N Gun games. While one could argue that all games are, in essence, puzzles—games by Cave and Treasure are puzzles that demand perfection. I’m always happy to see when they release new stuff.
Took a neat little trip down memory lane with the 1990 Amiga Amazing Spider-Man. I remember having Spider-Man flip switches...basically the whole game. Also, totally agreed that the life-bar was bizarre.
It puts my mind at ease reading what you are writing—and while I feel good that these cases immediately fall apart in court—in the back of my head is the thought, “These ‘reporters’ don’t care about facts and because of that, folks are going to get hurt.”
These lame-duck days can’t end fast enough.
Well said. While I don’t have a dog in the fight for a game like Torchlight, I do want to recognize the value of your comment. As I am officially an Old (40) who grew up gaming on Tabletop and Video Games, I find side quests and “fluff” that pads a games play-time incredibly annoying.
I knew Mad Max was a documentary! It just came from the future that we’re about to enter.
