The small-phone issue describes my wife: she’s using my old iPhone 4 (not even the ‘s’), and refuses to take my iPhone 5 from a couple years ago, because it’s too big for her. Makes me cry. :)

I agree with your general statement, but I think in particular what was referenced here is that much *more* water flows to the sea now, because we’ve turned permeable land (where the water goes down into the soil, and takes a long time before it heads to the sea) into impermeable land (concrete, asphalt, etc.) where

I’ve played around with mine for a whopping one evening now. :) Despite that, I do have some overall impressions.

Neat; I hadn’t seen that site before. And yes, I suspect protanope is the closest for me, although it’s always one of those frustratingly vague things where I’ll show up as one category in test A, and another in test B. Just enough to make sure I end up coloring the ground red, or not knowing if something is light

You probably get the same questions as do, where you have to say, “Well, no, I’m not exactly red/green color-blind, but I have such-and-such issues...” :)

... or people like me see this image with absolutely no numbers of any type, no matter how long I try. :)

Me too, if that’s not redundant! My dad took me on lots of trips as a kid/teenager, and we’ve done it at least somewhat with our own kids now that I’m all grown up ... but it’s few and far between. Tell ya what: when I become a bajillionaire, I’ll come back to this thread and invite everyone on a super fishing trip. :)

Fair enough — although I think that’s more of the “slippery slope” issue than one we’re facing today. I’d happily agree to join in outrage either if (a) they stop providing free content altogether, or (b) start adding back adds to the paid service. I strong suspect they won’t do (a), however — having the ability to

“Starting this morning, you can pick up an Apple TV at Best Buy and Apple retail stores tomorrow morning”

No worries, and yes, that image shows up fine. One sec while I actually try to use my brain as asked. :)

Thanks. :) It’s all good, though — I seriously didn’t have any idea about the whole rainbow trout / steelhead salmon thing, so it was just one of those internet misunderstandings.

Oh, no worries at all — I did the same assumption about rainbow trout, figuring I knew about them, and could tell them from salmon. I seriously learned a bunch this last 24 hours about the whole rainbow trout / steelhead salmon thing that I never would have learned otherwise, and it’s honestly pretty fascinating. Man,

Oh, I may be ignorant, but I’m far from a fish snob. I suspect most people would consider me the opposite, as I wolf down anything and everything. :) A bunch of people mentioned Steelhead salmon / trout in other messages, which is interesting to me — and you also answer another question I had, which is, is it the

Today I’m learning all about Steelhead! :) I asked this in some other thread, but is it the saltwater that creates the taste difference, do you know?

That makes total sense — my rainbow trout experience is all exactly that (fishing from streams and lakes in the California Sierra mountains). Someone else mentioned the Steelhead ocean aspect — do you know if it’s the exposure to salt water that causes a taste difference?

Image didn’t come through for me — can you list URL?

What’s that old Southpark saying: See, Stan, I learned something today! <insert NBC-star music> All my knowledge of trout has been what I’ve fished for 40 years, and it’s always been vastly different from the much wider array of salmon I’ve had — that is, I’d have no idea if my salmon was A, B, or C, but the rainbow

Um, what? No, no, that’s not what I meant at all. I eat varieties of salmon, and I know “an average” amount. But I’ve had rainbow trout all my life, whether fished directly, purchased, whatever. The taste, texture, bone structure, and everything else has always been vastly different. Someone else mentioned Steelhead

Interesting. My experience with rainbow trout has been what I’ve fished in Sierra streams all my life, and they’re certainly vastly different. Hadn’t known that about Steelhead.

Yeah, I was thinking that if I can’t tell the difference between any salmon and rainbow trout, I deserve whatever they serve me. :)
