Your headline is bogus. The bomb is released while the aircraft is in a near vertical climb, not inverted. The aircraft flight path needs to be X degrees off vertical in the direction of the target to hit a target Y distance away from the release point. This method is not unique to the B-47 but I will say I never knew…
I would point out that it may have looked awkward on approach but that was because it was the most maneuverable aircraft on the boat at approach speed. The other reason we called it the Turkey was because the huge ass differential horizontal stablators looked like they were flapping on approach, they were very big and…
It looked to me that the most dangerous thing in the cabin is the carry on luggage. Watch what happens for the storage bins and think about where that luggage is going to go. The only way out of the plane is crawling down the aisle because the top half of the plane is filled with broken bins and luggage.
You gotta think that Harrier pilot was saying "you are sure it is empty, right? I mean really sure, as in you checked it yourself. Really???"
Well Chris, now that you mention it..... :) However, I saw Artist Renderings of a Lockheed Martin proposed Swing Wing Navy variant of the F-22 that could make a lot of sense. A single squadron for 12 would be enough for each Carrier.
Double Post
The Vertical Stab is the one that is Vertical and in the pictures there are people for reference so you can see that the base of the Vertical stab is about 8 feet off the ground. I worked F-14 Tomcats for 20 years and made 3 Cruises walking thru hanger bays filled with Hornets. I know a Vertical Stab from a Horizontal…
Yea, and the Navy is supposed to defend a Carrier with that. The Bug does what it does well but it is not a Fleet Defense Interceptor or an Air Superiority Fighter.
Shhhhhh, we are not supposed to talk about that.
I screwed up. Either I remembered wrong or they changes the gate configuration. I don’t remember there being gates between the south (People) side and the North Side (Flight line) of the base. Sorry.
Not possible. The Vertical Stab is at least 8 feet off the ground. Horizontal Stab is most likely. Wing is too high to hit in a standard Jeep.
Me 3.
Also remember the main gate is 7 miles from the flight line. And never trust a Lt. JG.
The picture is of JRB Ft. Worth.
That is not a picture of NAS Lemoore. The Main Gate at Lemoore is 7 MILES from the flight line! How in the hell could Force Protection NOT stop them??????? I think the crashed thru a fence story in a much more plausible explanation.
If the Politicians were honorable and law abiding they would have done what was best for the country and not what was best for their wallet. In corruption, I think the person that accepts the bribe is 90% culpable.
I disagree sir. The Corporations were given a spec to build to and they did just that. Because of other POLITICAL decisions the F-35 is being expected to do things it was never expected to do. It was never intended to be a fighter, it was and is a stealthy strike aircraft that can protect itself, similar to a F-18 or…
I like this Jerry of Garcia guy!
We all know that it is a fact that all the greatest fighters in the world never needed a B, C, D, ..... Model. The P-51D was unnecessary, as was the F-15C. </SARCASM>
