The pic looks like a ‘58 Ford, but the ‘57's had it too.
Given the prices of used cars, there should be far fewer underwater situations than would normally be seen in these securities.
I wonder if they’re looking higher at the “2.1m 7-0'” sign on the left thinking that marks the left margin and not looking down at the black posts. If they’re all hitting on the same side, then there is some optical illusion thing going on and not just that the width is too narrow.
It’s still better than North Carolina’s “First in Flight” slogan. That phrase always made me think that North Carolinians would be the first to run away if the going got tough.
I’m surprised they didn’t show the MSRP’s of the cars. As the article pointed out, the exchange rate with Germany wasn’t favorable and the Japanese Opels were listing for almost 15% less than the German VW’s. Maybe the prices of the Toyotas, Subarus and Datsuns would have embarrassed them.
I’m an old guy who regularly makes a 750 mile trip in a day and an EV that would only need one recharging stop for an hour or so would work great for me. Now, make a model for under $50K. I don’t need 800-1100 hp, so that might be a place to make cuts.
In my entire life, I’ve only seen 2 cars burst into flames without being in a wreck. They were both Fiat X-1/9s.
Cheese didn’t stick to cars before the COVID vaccine!
Individual investors are a small percentage of total shareholders, but Tesla has about 6x the percent of its value held by individual investors as Ford and 40x that of a Merck. Tesla attracts individual speculators like other market darlings, such as PayPal and Amazon. They may not own much, but their trades can cause…
I’m sure there are people who do this and kill themselves. They don’t ever get to tell their cool story. Survivor bias.
The amazing thing about these videos is that there were vehicles closely following or next to the dump trucks and the drivers of those vehicles could clearly see the beds were up yet they still drove right with the trucks into the sign and bridges. Those drivers are worse than the truck drivers.
I think asking about it lying on the ground is the right question. Who cares if it’s laying on the ground?
Where was Dave Brown?
Does this sport do drug testing? My guess is that it doesn’t.
Frankly, cops don’t need guns at bank robberies. Are they going to start a shoot out in a place that’s full of bank employees and customers or out in the parking lot with traffic passing by? That’s part of the problem. We’ve come to believe cops need their guns all the time and they certainly act like they’re…
Using geothermal to power the conversion process would seem the only way the math would work out.
“...ask people who love them and they’ll tell you ‘It’s just a bad reputation! If you change the engine and transmission out at the suggested intervals, they’re not really that unreliable!’”

Isn’t the “driven further” referring to cumulative mileage, not driven further on each trip. He’s saying that you need to amortize that extra steel, etc over a longer period of time to help compensate for the energy required to manufacture it.
