The Altima’s interior space benefits from a FWD transverse layout with very little regard for dynamics. Meanwhile, the 3 series has a Longitudinal RWD layout. The engine is pushed back from the front axle so it’s almost mid engined, and has 50/50 weight distribution. That means interior space is seriously compromised. 

What are the 370Z’s competitors? The BRZ/86? Audi TT? bmw z4? the Miata?

Don’t forget it was also profitable to ignore these issues

I’m sorry to differ but the Jag XE is a way cleaner and more minimalist car. Most new cars look over wrought next to it.

I’m glad to hear this 3 series will be lighter. The present one is quite light already, particularly amongst its peers. I wonder if this will be the first electric 3 series...
