Unfortunately, the September 30th date quoted might have been too optimistic on the part of Playdom. As of a few minutes ago, the game started failing to load in a way I’ve never seen before: “The operation timed out.” Could it have been taken down already?

Because it was in the “Facebook game” category, I want to pretend that this isn’t upsetting, but honestly, I was quite attached to the game. The game’s bench of heroes went deeper than I’ve seen in any game except possibly Marvel Lego. However, unlike Marvel Lego, Avengers Alliance put thought into the flavor of its

I can’t see that logo without thinking “Guitar Hero.”

I’m less inclined to pessimism because I really loved Sota Fukushi in Kamen Rider Fourze, and because a movie would necessitate abandoning the worst aspect of Bleach: filler.

I did not try to get the Batmobile to appear. When it did so, I think my heart stopped for a moment. Afterward, I tried to figure out whether it had been a hallucination.

That it doesn’t retain Gmail login status is a dealbreaker, and I suspect it’s a design problem rather than a bug. If it crashes, if the app closes for other reasons, if you lose network connectivity, if the server goes down... All of these things require you to manually type out your username and password again.

Amazingly, yes, Saints Row 2 was good. Great, even, although it was rough around the edges. The series was still a Grand Theft Auto knockoff at that point, but it was doing interesting things with certain gameplay elements and writing. I liked a lot of the writing, but I also experienced repeated tonal whiplash due to

I don’t usually engage my optimism about games so early on, but this all just seems like a really good idea. I LOVED Saints Row 2-4, but by the end of the fourth, I felt like the series should be done. In SR 4, you could hijack cars - after all, the game’s engine is based on a GTA clone - but there’s no reason you’d

WOW, flashback. I hadn’t thought about Defender of the Crown in years, but I just flashed back to when I was a kid. A friend of mine and I would go to the public library in our town. There was a single PC there, but if it was free, and if nobody else had checked out the game, we’d huddle around and do our best to get

I’d never played I or II until they were released on PSN; frustrating, since I’d kept hearing that II was the best of the series. (Now that I’ve played it, however, I’m back to feeling V was the best iteration.) I didn’t stop paying attention to Kotaku until recently, so the only reason I’d encountered the series at

In truth, the only visual enhancements I’d want would alter the character designs to reflect a little more of the spirit of the comics, and a little less of what marketing departments think appeals to 14-year-old hetero boys. I spent a good portion of Arkham City wishing I could fix the zipper on Catwoman’s suit.

“Nekomancer” is instantly my new favorite word.

This may be the most correct use of Figuarts I’ve ever seen.

Thank you for doing this so that we don’t have to.

Although I’ve been very excited about Marvel’s relatively-recent tendency to reprint things, I’ve discovered that I need to be a little cautious before actually buying things. I’d remembered the bulk of 90's superhero comics as being bad, but I’d forgotten just how bad.

NEVER! I want to marry the two. They keep edging toward “well, maybe we can dress him a LITTLE like the version from the comics.” They’ll never get all the way there, but I appreciate the nods.

I tend to think of Priest’s Black Panther as being the first sign that Marvel had started to seriously rehabilitate itself. Marvel had put out years of comics of mediocre-to-iffy quality, so when I picked up this series, I couldn’t quite believe what I was reading.

I loved the “Heroes Return” books published at the

Probably not as much as it bothers Netflix. I suspect there have been a lot of discussions about changing Danny’s ethnicity, although not necessarily to something Asian. A Latino or Native Fist would be an interesting choice. However, those paths would leave us without the black/white element of the Luke/Danny

I got to play this briefly at GX3. The thing I find more interesting is the central conceit that you’re going to play with someone else on the same iPad, because you have to get... pretty close. That’s an awkward choice for a game that makes kissing such an unsexy proposition.

When I saw that first picture of KayBear in the red top hat (I’m not yet familiar with the character), I thought, “Huh? Why would they include an illustration rather than a pho- OH, WOW.”
