Its fascinating that someone who has a science degree can champion anti intellectualism.
I figured it was for some giant ass paid ad, but then one of them was for Kotaku Splitscreen.
It’s public domain now. I’m surprised that Disney hasn’t made plans to make an animated version (they’ll change the ending suicide, just as Esmeralda and Quasimodo lived in their version of Hunchback)
i assumed it was a browser update / ad-blocker disconnect.
Take your star and get the hell out.
Yuuup. I was stunned when I saw that the PC I had bought about 5 years ago (and it was hardly impressive even then, bog standard build slightly more powerful than a PS4) is now double the price for the exact same dated specs.
If you read anything about the insane production issues that both Raise the Titanic and Sahara went through, it’s really no wonder that Cussler mostly stayed away from movies.
Glenn served three years in the Marines. No doubt that informed his insanely convincing performance.
Yeah Greer’s whole character was super weird. I thought the “I converted to Islam for my wife but then we split up and I don’t know where my faith is now” arc was... definitely interesting, but also not really right for this character. I’m fine with the idea of seeing a younger Greer who isn’t an imposing high-ranking…
There are so many referencable moments in that movie. My core group of friends in the ‘90s and I watched that movie dozens if not hundreds of times.

Whenever one of my friends successfully convinces me of something (and I know they’ll get the reference), I say, “Relax, Jonesy, you sold me.”
My god “competency porn” !!!! Yes please let us have more of that in movies!!!!
Early clancy (when he was basically just Andrew weir for cold war military tech) tend to be (to my mind) better than when he turned into Clive Custler for people who are afraid of foreigners and dont like water
The technical advisors for Red October deserved much more credit than they ever got. There were a lot of details about submarines that were intentionally skewed for security reasons, but the little details like the jargon the Sailors use and the formality in the Wardroom is pretty spot on. It gave the film a genuine…
Clancy spent a lot of time in the books talking about Jonsey’s audio equipment (to be fair, he spent a lot of time talking about naval hardware in general). It’s clear McTiernan read and respected the books, and that shows up on screen.
It’s such a fucking awesome movie and one that I absolutely will watch one a year or so.
“I hardly knew her!”
It says a lot about Final Fantasy that you could’ve easily convinced me the chicken was an NPC.
