I think, eventually, you would see SCOTUS functionally re-examine who is even considered a human being under the law.

Huh? Any rights codified by Congress can be taken away by Congress. Therefore, if Democrats had tried to push through a bill establishing abortion rights, it undermines the idea from Roe and Casey that abortion rights are inherent within the constitution, and basically would have given credence to conservative…
I get that this is what everyone will remember about this case but how is shitting in his bed worse than him trashing her closet and belongings, making threats, physical violence toward her, etc?
It’s just insane. It’s clear he doesn’t give a shit about the trial outcome nor his fans online. It’s just someone found in a previous court to be a serial wifebeater vindictively trying to either drag her down too (if it’s found she was an abuser) or just ruin her life because she said anything publicly (if she’s…
The ones that I find most ridiculous are how him laughing at the trial proceedings and not taking them seriously are “oh such a hero”/“our king” while if she give any sort of look it’s “look at how callous/evil she is”.
Except there isn’t “proof” she lied. There’s a leaked letter to the Daily Mail asking for information about further payments but frankly that’s not much unless followed up with evidence there was an outstanding amount and that letter hadn’t been the result of a mix up.
I mean... He’s gonna lose. It’s not criminal court, it’s a defamation trial and his defense is literally “we mutually abused each other” which is true...but it’s still admitting that he abused her and therefore her words in the op-ed were not libel. I personally could not care less about the court of public opinion;…
The difference though was that they brought up in cross his own words that contradicted his claims. He’d claim he could perfectly remember events only for his texts to say he’d “blacked out”.
So, she has to be “without fault” in order to not be bankrupted, and have her mental competency questioned? While Depp gets to admit to using illicit drugs, writes that he wants to kill Heard, rape her dead body and then burn it and all he’s JUST an asshole? That’s a pretty big double standard here.
I have been serving process papers and subpoenas for years. I am hired by lawyers, not the clients. Never once have I communicated with a client about anything, including the manner in which the documents are delivered.
Earlier this year, a man in Australia set himself on fire to protest COVID-19 vaccination mandates, though paramedics and police intervened and he did not die.
“Brown warns that if “Harry and Meghan want to be consistent, they ought not to really be involved with Netflix.””
Tina Brown is the worst. I don’t believe anything she has to say about the royal family.
I’m struggling to find a time when Prince Charles has come off, in real life, as exceedingly dumb. And he does seem to have a sense of humor.
I work in tech/digital, and my friends and colleagues constantly wonder at the amount of media coverage that anything on Twitter gets given barely anyone we know actually even looks at it on a regular basis.
To add to your stats: The vast majority of tweets are into the void: seen by very few people and engaged with by no one (no likes, retweets, or responses). Even the mega-users you mention generate very little actual engagement.
Oh well?
I’m waiting for my archive to download & get sent to me in a zip file, and I’m deleting immediately after that. I’ve been on the platform since 2007 and I really am going to miss it, but I’m not sticking around to see what this asshole does to it. “RIP Twitter” indeed.
The moment I saw the news on Twitter, I deleted my account right after that. He’s going to turn it into another “Truth.Social”.
It’s a shame people are so rude on a regular basis that you need to write an afterword basically imploring people not to be jerks.
