It’s because they’re wrong. The IROC cars were just like any other “stock car” of the time. Tube chassis cars with stylized bodies to match production vehicles. Not as egregious as today, but hardly factory cars being tossed around a super speedway. 

What? No they didn’t. IROC ran Daytonas from 1990-1993 before switching to the Avenger in 94/95. Then they used trans ams until the end of the series in 2006.

Mini has been making huge strides in reliability since the introduction of the F56 in 2014. This generation of mini (despite being almost a decade old now) has been extremely reliable.
