A lot of this is extremely outdated. First year of the ATS? Definitely applies. But there have been improvements since then. the cluster really is the only letdown. Fit and finish has been a GM strong suit since the 2008-ish.

It’s not like it’s an awful car to drive. It’s decent enough. But compared to any actual sport sedans it’s not even close.

While I haven’t driven a 3, I have driven an S and an X. They aren’t that good to drive. Being fast in a straight line does nothing for me.

Lane Motor Museum in Nashville has a similar thing. regrettably I didn’t get to do it when I was there. But the idea is cool and builds an appreciation for just how far we’ve come with cars.

At least have a solid stance when you try to shit talk something.

In 1982 the high output was 160

A lot of people here just regurgitate all the shitty things they hear about GMs. Or domestic cars in general.

That’s a third gen. A lot of cars got shitty views of the binnacle because of airbags added as an afterthought.

Actually it was the Mustang and everyone buying SUVs and trucks that did it. The Camaro rode harsher and was not as liveable in base trim as the Mustang was. Not to mention not as many people were buying coupes anymore.

I’ve owned mustangs and Camaro. I work for a German car company. I have no allegiances.

Those were just claimed numbers at that. The SS and Firehawks were doing 330+ WHP on the dyno iirc.

Only about a hundred pounds heavier. 3300 for he GT vs around 3400 for the Z28.

I’ve owned both a 4th gen and a SN95 Cobra. So yes. Good proof you provided.

ITT: people who know little about the 4th gen Camaro and can’t be bothered with anything but “LOLOLOL GM INTERIOR LOLOLOL RATTLES DAE H8 MALAISE GM?!”

GM had been putting actual ponies in their cars for the 15 years before this. The 4th gen especially was underrated on paper.

The 4th gen handily beat the Mustangs throughout its entire lifecycle. The Camaro was also the better handling car.

Ehhh. That’s not really the case. The B-Bodies used the TBI engines because they were reliable and cheaper to use than the TPI. As well as the teething issues with Optispark is why it didn’t get the LT1. Could you imagine explaining to the blue hairs that their distributor has moisture buildup?

Regal had a FWD replacement coming out for 1988. That’s why. Monte Carlo wouldn’t return until the mid to late 90's as a Lumina Coupe.

Ehhhh. See you say that. Sales of the Caprice were dwindling. It just didn’t make sense to have a full size BoF sedan anymore. The Crown Vic had more fleet sales than the Caprice. Ford just lucked out to be able to limp Panther production on for 14 more years with minimal investment. They also had fleet sales across

It was a regal that had been in production since the late 70's. I think it wasn’t killed off prematurely if it had a 10+ year run.
