No.
No.
While Ru has been called out before with regard to statements concerning the trans community, I think - in this particular instance - he’s trying to be inclusive, without contradicting his stance on the ineligibility of ciswomen/bioqueen contestants.
See, that was my exact reaction. If you allow some women, wouldn’t it be the logical conclusion to allow all women? It becomes this weird slippery slope where suddenly we’re worried glamorous women will steal the show from experienced drag queens which absolutely feels unfair.
I do have a friend who is a trans woman, that performs drag in Chicago. To be honest, its not really drag (I guess the term is faux drag) - because that’s her daily look amplified. She is still an excellent performer and a way better looking woman than I will ever be!
Ru’s version of drag isn’t the definitive version of drag any more than McDonald’s is the definitive version of a hamburger. Drag has a rich history in the LGBT community across many different kinds of bodies and identities, and the idea that an art form that is supposed to be subversive and transgressive has a “only…
I thought this as well. Like, if they accept transwomen as competitors, and transwomen are women, then shouldn’t everyone who identifies as a woman be accepted? I mean, maybe that should be the show, people all over the gender spectrum competing in a costume and performance event, but then is it still something for…
Took the words out of my mouth - this is my first thought. The purpose of Drag Race is to see a competition of men dressing up in hyperfeminized alter egos of themselves. Plain and simple. Though, I will say I was kind of annoyed at Bendelacreme when he didn’t actually portray a woman in the Snatch Game during All…
I don’t think he is being unreasonable here at all. He accepts trans people and welcomes them. But it really is different when they start formal transition when its a drag competition. And, yes, there are always going to be blurry lines about when a transition really starts. Because gender is not a black and white…
She is the GOAT when it comes to the game. The bad stuff doesn’t stick to her and the good is plied so skillfully. I don’t care one way or another about her acting skills, but I just adore watching her play the Hollywood/press game.
Jennifer Garner doesn’t get enough credit for playing the game. In one post she reminded people she’s single (on a night where she looked spectacular), promoted two of her projects, and showed that she can laugh at herself, making her super relatable. Ben Affleck never deserved her.
Plus about 50 adderall. I told Mr. Penguin while we were watching -that dude is FLYING.
I just watched his on-air MSNBC appearance, and I beg to differ. Dude looks like he found allllllll the cocaine.
OMG that was exact thought! I was like...look at these four smart, successful, tenacious Black people in one room, working. I need to see more of that.
UGH, it won’t let me fix it!
Spellcheck is a muthafucka. I know you meant saditty...and I died as well.
I think the point is that he’s always saving minorities, women, and poors...as if those individuals can’t help themselves or never thought to.
AND she called her high sanity! I died.
They left out this scene
Didn’t Brad Pitt ride in and save the day in “12 Years a Slave”and “Seven Years in Tibet”? I can’t remember exactly. All those white saviors look alike.
