“Made a fandroid out of your girlfriend”

On a scale from Marlene Dietrich to Lena Dunham, I’d put her at 7 for all the comments on her body and constant underwear pictures.

They should do it for the beautiful children they would produce.

you shut your goddamn mouth

Ok, I think he’s pretty handsome, and I don’t want anyone to hate me for this but from a profile, he always looks like Nick Cannon to me. I can’t unsee it. Only in profile, but it’s there.

I think we’re seeing her cultural body language and misreading the intention. She’s the one doing all the touching, and to us Americans it reads as DTF, but I think she’s just showing affection without any sexual innuendo. His body english on the other hand, is pretty reserved and more circumspect because we don’t

Your anecdotal evidence notwithstanding, just because doctors also occasionally kill white people by being overconfident that doesn’t change the fact that black women are definitely-and to a statistically relevant degree-dying from getting lesser care than white women when giving birth no matter what advantages they

Probably her own fault for getting “angry”. Nobody wants to listen to an angry black woman demanding the correct medical treatment so she won’t die. /s

I truly believe that it’s to do with the medical profession refusing to listen to women. We all have stories about how long it takes to get a diagnosis because everything is boiled down to “you’re a woman and women complain too much”. It took me eight years to get PCOS diagnosed, and when I finally did, the original

Sexism with a dose of racism is to blame.

The state of healthcare these days is really bad. Being older, I remember when it was amazingly better, with competent care and even a week-long stay in the hospital after giving birth, where you could have the staff feed the baby at night if you wished, so you could rest. Then they said kicking moms out of the

The state of aftercare when it comes to mothers, particularly when it comes to women of color, can be abysmal. There was an article a couple of months ago about a woman an acquaintance of mine knew and it’s just so sad. I am so happy that Serena was able to advocate for herself and keep herself safe, because even

I know, right? Even if they suspected she was some sort of hypochondriac (although, seriously, Serena Williams, a hypochondriac?) shouldn’t you pay closer attention to what a person who has just given birth is telling you and step on it to run every test you can to make sure it’s only in their head? Giving birth isn’t

But of course the medical team didn’t listen to her! She’s not only female, she’s African American! Everyone knows WOC are always over dramatizing everything.

My first thought when I read that story was, this is an elite professional athlete. The woman knows her body. She not only knew what was happening, she knew the course of treatment necessary.

It’s crazy!! And I don’t know what circumstances led to her C-section, but it seems like most of these issues arose from that surgery, and knowing how many unnecessary C-sections are conducted in this country, I’m sickened to think this could all have been avoided for her. But again, pure conjecture on my part.

Oh my god. It’s so trite, but I’m really happy she survived and is healthy now. Serena Williams is one of the few - possibly the only - celebrity who has shared details about her pregnancy and child rearing in a way that is honest, not for self promotion, and not humble-braggy.

I’m impressed with her advocacy on this.

Samuel L. Jackson, but he didn’t have any superpowers because black people don’t need any.
